How To Make An Outdoor Park Bench

November 2010: the opposition back on TV in 2011 by President

Emilio Fede, director of TG4

On December 17 have been published on the website of the Authority for Communications data relating to the plurality of television November 2010. As usual, information on the news programs were collected and aggregated into an Excel file available at this link .

As usual, the first analysis divides the sides in terms of institutions (President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Presidents of the Chambers, members the government and the EU), majority and opposition.

AGCom November 2010 aggregates data for
institutions - the majority - Opposition

As is apparent from the graph, shows a clear trend reversal over the past few months: opposition this month is able to outpace the 33% threshold that is rightfully, reaching over 35% with peaks of 40% in TG3.
fall relative to the month of October, the share allocated to the institutions, and are the premier and particularly the government to see their rate reduced. Overall, the proportion of time spent institutions cover 44% of the total, with peaks of nearly 55% on TgCom, but will remain firmly part represented by Italian television.
The weakest element is instead a parliamentary majority, reduced to 20%, crushed by opposition returned to normal levels and institutions still far above its quota.

perhaps the most striking is of course the ample space given to the opposition forces, after two months in which they were crushed by the media institutions and the majority. By examining in detail the data of individual parties, it is noted, however, like most of the increase is due to the extra space reserved for the Future and Freedom for Italy, the formation of Fini. We must not forget that in November they were in full swing tied-up to parliamentary maneuvers of the vote on the motion of no confidence in the government, and the position of Fini and his men was of primary importance on the issue.

Indeed, if we compare the macro-policies (right, center right, center, center-left), emerge once again as the left wing of Italian politics is compressed compared to the real representation in the country measured based on the latest parliamentary elections. The only exception, a little 'surprise, Open Studio is due to the space offered to the Democratic Party.
As with previous months, the division has been structured in the following list:
  • Right (La Destra, Lega Nord)
  • center-right (PDL, FLI, UDEUR)
  • Centre (MPA, API, UDC)
  • center (PD, IDV, SEL, Radicals)
  • Left (SP, EDF, Verdi)
  • Other

It then says the trend already seen in recent months, he sees news tentatively moved to the right but not necessarily pro-government, thanks the presence of a force at once and right opposition, FLI.

The last analysis concerns the comparison between the newscasts. If you compare the policy areas we see a greater balance in the news, RAI, and particularly those of RaiTre RaiNews, but if you examine the simple relationship between the majority, opposition and institutions shows the excellent results achieved by the TG4 Emilio Fede . The latest demonstration of how the numbers, while allowing only a quantitative analysis, to allow time to dispel some stereotypes. For the third consecutive month
TgCom the other hand is confirmed as the news of lower quality in terms of level playing field, because of its pro-government political and filomaggioranza. The important news

avutesi in November are still the result of the upheaval in Italian political landscape brought by the separation between Fini and Berlusconi. We will see in the coming months if there is a stabilization of the current trend or whether the fluctuations in the distribution of time allocated to political parties will lead to new equilibrium media.
